Church by the sea

The little church by the sea is well worth a visit. It was donated by the city of Amsterdam, whose city emblem is displayed above the church's side entrance. The beautiful old interior and magnificent organ are sure to bring a smile to your face. Opposite the church by the sea, you'll find the fishermen's monument.

Fishermen's Monument

Wooden fishing boats were once vulnerable and often fell prey to storms and waves. Many steel cutters also sank with all hands. Many paid for their fishing with their lives. Lost at sea, often never to be found again. It happened more than once that a cutter and its crew were lost at sea. The sea gives and the sea takes.
